McIntyre announces the acquisition of Northgate Country Club

Dan McIntyre, owner and operator of Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club and former long-time ClubCorp executive, today announced the acquisition of Northgate Country Club located North of Houston Texas. Northgate Country Club the centerpiece of the community, is a private Club that features a Devlin-von Hagge-designed 27- hole, championship golf course, beautiful clubhouse, 8 tennis courts and 3 swimming pools, Jack Thoner, the original owner, began this golf and luxury living community more than 28 years ago. Despite almost three decades of accomplishments, Jack Thoner feels there is still more to be accomplished at Northgate, and that is when he approached Dan McIntyre. Jack became acquainted with Dan during his ClubCorp days and has maintained a business relationship with him throughout the years. Jack felt Dans experiences and accomplishments provided him with a good option to turn over his club knowing it will be taken care of for the future.

Just as with Walden, Northgate will be in good hands, and no one knows that better than Walden head professional Danny Jones. When he learned his owners were selling the club, he naturally was a little sceptical about the transition. That didnt last long, however. You could tell Dan was dedicated to improving every aspect of the club," Jones said. Since 2004, hes bought new maintenance equipment to update everything, weve re-done tees and bunkers, and weve added more than 800 trees to the course."

In 2006, the club built a new golf school complete with covered teaching bays and an indoor conference center. Jones added, Everything Dan has done has helped the club improve. We have members who have been here 25 years, and they say theyve never seen the fairways and course in such great shape. Additionally, Dan continues to enhance the private club experience by implementing a full calendar of events Dan recognizes that his newest acquisition of Northgate Country Club not only recaptures a bygone time when elegance, sociability and tradition were priorities but will also enhance the marketability of both clubs while increasing the privileges and benefits for the Members by giving them all access to both great clubs.
